                 Mood Disorder Mood Disorder Defined: Mood is a state of mind or emotion, and more than 20 million people in the United States will be affected by varying types of mood disorders in their lifetime. Mood Disorder symptoms can be described as either low (see  Depression  and Dysthymic Disorder) or a combination of high and low (see  Bipolar Disorder  and Cyclothymic Disorder). The types of Mood Disorders mentioned above have different criteria for diagnosis; however, individuals may experience changes in some of the following  Symptoms/Signs of Mood Disorder: Changes in Mood, Concentration, Activity Level, Social Behavior, Thinking, Energy, Daily Activity, Sleep Patterns, Appetite, Speech, Sex Drive, Self-Esteem, and/or Interpersonal Relations A Long-Lasting, Unexplained Depressed Mood Manic Depression (see  Bipolar Disorder )
